Obituary

Rene Rodriguez Soliz completed his earthly journey on April 27, 2023 at the age of 84. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Born the second of six children to Sara and Ernesto H. Soliz on August 22, 1938 in Benavides, Texas.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many is now at rest. A perfect day for Rene would be to have his family gathered around, watching the Dallas Cowboys! To say he was a "die-hard" fan is an understatement; everything he bought was either blue or silver to represent his team. He spent countless hours, either in a deer blind waiting for the perfect buck, caring for his horses, or feeling the breeze of the ocean while he fished; enjoying the simplicity of life. There was something about being outdoors that always brought him great joy; we knew his heart was happiest out at the ranch, located in the big city of "Tulsita." It was here he raised and sold cattle, bailed an endless amount of hay and without question made priceless memories that would last a lifetime.

He was the proud owner of, "Rene's Wheel Alignment" in Corpus Christi, Texas; a business to which he dedicated 40 years of service. Taking care of and providing for his family was at the forefront of Rene's kind heart. Although it would be impossible to describe such a great person in only a few words; Generous is what many would use; always ready to help a friend, neighbor, or family member, in need. This legacy of strength, wisdom, hard work and courage, will guide our hearts for generations to come.

On February 10, 1957, two hearts would be joined as one when Rene Rodriguez Soliz and Lydia Perez joined in the sacrament of marriage. Through this union, they brought to life their son and daughter and a life filled with many blessings.

Rene is joined now in heaven by his parents, Ernesto H. Soliz & Sara R. Soliz, his brother, Ernesto R. Soliz, sister-in-law, Aurora Soliz and nephews, Ruben Soliz, Sr., Lewis Ernesto Soliz, and Danny Soliz; along with his pet cat, Buddy.

He leaves behind to cherish these memories, his wife of 66 years Lydia P. Soliz, children: Sylvia (Frank) Gonzales, Rene (Juanita) Soliz, Jr.; grandchildren: Jimmy (Michelle) Zamora, Jr., Stephanie (Steve) Cruz, Andrew Soliz, Rene (Patrice) Soliz, III; great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Leah, Emma, Bella, Evalynn, Natalie, Esme, Matthew, Aaron and Tyler; siblings: Esmeralda (Roy) Guerra, Leonel (Aurora +) Soliz, Oscar (Hilda) Soliz, Joe (Dora) Soliz; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved. We must also mention Chuy, his beloved chihuahua, if we couldn't find the two, we knew they were most likely taking a ride on the four-wheeler!

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Mr. Joe Orozco, Registered Nurse, and entire staff of Opus Hospice, for the kindness and compassion, which they bestowed upon Rene and our family. With their dedication and support, we were able to peacefully bid farewell and for that we are eternally grateful.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Jimmy Zamora, Jr., Steve Cruz, Gabriel Noriega, Rene Soliz, III, Andrew Soliz, Jayel Salazar.
