It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Cortez, Jr., who passed away on July 1, 2024 at the age of 60.

He was born on September 27, 1963 to his parents Raymond Cortez, Sr. and Maria Elena Martinez in Corpus Christi, Texas.

A beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many is now at rest. "Ramon", as he often referred to himself; served his family faithfully, always putting the happiness of others, above his own. His work ethic was unmatched; working tirelessly with no complaint. His legacy of love will live on for generations to come. May he rest in peace.

He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Cortez, Sr.; along with his brothers Andres Cortez and Israel Cortez.

Raymond leaves behind to cherish his memories, mother Maria Elena Martinez; siblings: Lisa Cortez (Karen Hernandez), Maria Elena Davila, Basilio Cortez, Maria Isabel Cortez (Renee Adame), Victoria Cortez (Jeni Wilmeth); sister-in-law Janie Romero Cortez; longtime companion Brenda Torres; nieces and nephews: Christopher, Crystal, Ali, Derrick, Sabrina, Madaline, Abigail; great nieces and nephews: Mason, Xander, Elaina, Jonathan, Jr., Isaiah, Andres, Aria; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom he loved.

Due to expected inclement weather conditions from Hurricane Beryl, the family has elected to shift the service date from Monday 7/8/24 to the following:
Public Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Guardian Funeral Home, Chapel A, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
