Obituary

Raul J. "Gabe" Carrillo, 48, from Corpus Christi, Texas, beloved husband, and brother, passed away on June 16, 2017. He was born on November 18, 1968 to Hilda Juarez and Jesus Carrillo in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Raul grew up in Texas, and then moved to New Mexico where he lived and attended Goddard High School; he then finished his last two years of high school at New Mexico Military Institute where he graduated with honors as a Military Captain. He served in the United States Army Field Artillery as a Battery Commander and Captain from April 1993- January 2001 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He served in Desert Storm/Gulf War in Iraq as an Artillery Officer. His duties included the supervision and welfare of (AIT) unit of Multiple Launch Rocket System and Cannon Artillery Battalion and responsible for training 500 soldiers in their individual military occupational skills. He is also the recipient of the ARMY MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL, January 2001. He was still an indefinite member of the United States Army Service and resigned as Major Raul Carrillo.
His education also included: Bachelor of Business Administration and Reserve Officer's Training Corp at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM and was on the Dean's List. He then received his Master's Degree in Business Administration at Cameron University, Lawton, OK in 2001. In addition he received his Association in Arts, Military Science, NMMI, in Roswell, NM 1989. He was also on the Superintendent's List/Phi Theta Kappa HS and ROTC.
After his military career, he entered into the Medical Health Industry as a Sales Representative, and Sales Trainer, for Johnson & Johnson, Ethicon Division, Synovis Surgical Innovations, and then for Baxter Healthcare Corporation. He excelled in all facets of his sales career and was selected as member of the "Region of the Year" in 2014. His accomplishments were many and he achieved the highest honors in everything he did in his lifetime.
Raul is survived by his wife, Sadie Ann Carrillo, Corpus Christi, TX, his brothers, Rodolfo Carrillo and his wife Sherry Carrillo of Corpus Christi, Texas and Rene Carrillo, and his wife Lisa Carrillo of Albuquerque, NM, his sister Irma Ward, Houston, TX and his sister, Rebecca McArthur and her husband Shaun of Roswell, NM and many other friends and family.
Raul was the light and joy of many who knew him. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his family and friends very much. His smile was infectious and he lit up any room that he entered with his joy and laughter and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all of us but will be remembered forever for his kindness and his tremendous selfless heart. He loved his wife very much and his dog "Jzee" with all his heart and soul and we will never forget him.

A Memorial Service will be held at GUARDIAN FUNERAL HOME located at 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417 – 361-853-0155 on June 28th, between the hours of 4:30 -9:00..with Military Honors at 6:00 P.M. He will then be transported and flown to Roswell, NM on June 30.  To Ballard Funeral home 910 S. Main St. Roswell, New Mexico 88203--575-622-1121. Services will be held there on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Please come by and say your "Goodbye's" to him before he leaves Texas and heads to New Mexico for his final resting.
