Ramon Chapa Lopez (Raymond) passed away on February 13, 2013, at the age of 84, after a long illness.
Ramon retired from the Texas Education Agency after 30 years of employment. Ramon and his family held a longstanding tradition of traveling. His enjoyment of history and culture lead his family to explore every historical marker and museum along the way. Ramon's love of Christ created a friendliness within him to have never met a stranger. His repertoire of jokes and funny stories always put people at ease. He was a member of Kelsey Memorial United Methodist Church where he held various leadership positions, both locally and nationally.
Ramon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsa Saenz Lopez, three daughters, Yvette Lopez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Denise (David) Espino of San Antonio, Texas, Sonya (Sanford) Lewis of Mahopac, New York, four grandchildren, Raquel and Silas Espino and Elijah and Joshua Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at Kelsey Memorial United Methodist Church, 1610 Comanche, at 3:00 PM., Saturday, February 16, 2013. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Frank and Elia Saenz Field Scholarship Fund and mailed in care of Kelsey Memorial United Methodist Church, 1610 Comanche, Corpus Christi, Tx. 78401.
