Obituary

Ramon Vargas Jr. passed away peacefully at the age 92 on January 31, 2023. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Ramon and Delia Vargas, his wife Eleanor, his siblings Cresencio, David Alejandro, Jose Maria ,Delia, Lidia, Sulema, his son Ramon , his great grandson Ryan , great granddaughter Sarah and his favorite son-in-law, Julian Martinez.
He is survived by his siblings Irene Harris, Mary Garcia, David Vargas , Joe Vargas, his daughters, Diana Martinez, Lee Ann Vargas, Tina Vargas, son Shane Vargas, nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Yorktown,Texas, he experienced the hardships of the depression which developed lifelong habits. At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the army serving two tour of duties overseas in Japan and Germany. After he was discharged, he married and moved to Indiana as a farm laborer. In 1959, he settled in Corpus Christi to work and raise his family.
He was quick wit, truthful, enjoyed all his meals, loved his music and dancing, enjoyed barbecuing, played in softball and bowling leagues, was a senior volunteer in numerous city events, a lifelong veteran/patriot, master carpenter/ contractor. He never met a stranger and people always remembered him. He had a signature handshake only for the the young ones in the family.
A cemetery service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:00am at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, Texas.
