Obituary

Ramon Omero Fulton, 71, passed away in the early hours of June 19, 2014, with his wife by his side in Corpus Christi, Texas. A prayer service will take place on at Our Savior Lutheran Church (on Greenwood) on Monday the 23rd of June at 9am and will be immediately followed by a funeral service and burial at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery. Ramon was born on November 12, 1942, in Corpus Christi to Enriqueta Rios and James "Buster" Fulton. He was a direct descendant of George W Fulton.

Ramon grew up on the North-side of Corpus Christi and was a proud graduate of Roy Miller High School, Class of 1960. Shortly after graduation he joined the US Army and served his country in the Army Security Agency, being stationed at Kagnew Station in Ethiopia where he supported the US Intelligence Community's efforts in the region. Upon being honorably discharged from the US Army in September 1968 he returned to Corpus Christi and married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Maria Garza (Mary Jane), and worked in various accounting, payroll and IT positions at Bank and Trust, Coastal States, and HEB. He became a Texas A&I Kingsville alumni when he graduated with a degree in Computer Science in 1973 and in 1975 he took a position at the US Postal Service where he worked for 30 years at Corpus Christi's Hector P. Garcia Main Post Office until he retired in 2005.

Throughout his life he was a very active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, of which he was a member for 60 years. He served the church through the many roles and offices in which he held, including Head Elder for several years.

In his spare time, Ramon devoted his life to the taking care of and raising his family as well as spending time on church-related activities and reading books.

Ramon is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Jane; his loving mother, Enriqueta Rios; six brothers, John, Alex, George, Henry, Charlie, Oscar; his four sisters, Patty, Francis, Amy, Paula; his three sons (and their spouses), Ramon Jr (Monica), Gabriel (Karan), Daniel; his two daughters (and their spouses), Dorothea (Matthew), Deborah; nine grandchildren, Jacqueline, Aislynn, Cinnamon, Enriqueta, Prakash, Gwendolyn, Ian, Noah, Sophia; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ramon was preceded in death by his father, James "Buster" Fulton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 starting at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 6102 Greenwood and Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery with Military Honors.
