Obituary

Ramiro R. Castaneda Sr., a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 10, 2025, after a long battle of Alzheimer's disease.  With a life marked by dedication and warmth, Ramiro's journey was one of kindness and simplicity. His gentle spirit and loving nature were a beacon of light to all who knew him.

Born into a close-knit family, Ramiro quickly became known for his caring personality. He spent his career nurturing others through his culinary talents, at Spohn Hospital, where he served as a cook for 35 years. His passion for food and service was also given at the Naval Air Station Hospital, where he dedicated 15 years, ensuring that those who served our country were well-fed and cared for. His work ethic and commitment to his craft were only matched by the love he had for his family and friends.

A loving husband and father, Ramiro's heart was always with his family. He found great pleasure in the simple things in life, such as watching football and cheering on his favorite teams. His love for sports was only matched by his love for family gatherings and dances, where his presence was a source of joy and laughter. Ramiro's love for the outdoors was evident in his meticulous care for his lawn, often seen mowing the grass with a contented smile on his face.

Travel held a special place in Ramiro's heart, especially his trips to Minnesota and various cities to visit his beloved Carlitos. These journeys were not just about the places he saw but the time spent with family, which he treasured above all else.

Those who knew Ramiro will remember him as a very simple dad, one whose warming smile could light up a room and whose gentle nature could soothe any sorrow. His kindness was a beacon, guiding and inspiring those around him to embrace life with the same love and compassion that he so effortlessly displayed.

Ramiro was preceded in death by his parents, Abel D. and Estella R. Castaneda, sisters Rosa Molina, Maria de Jesus Rodarte, brothers Abel R. Castaneda, Rodolfo Castaneda, Reynaldo Castaneda, Ricardo Castaneda, and Alfredo Castaneda.

Grandchildren Thomas Castaneda, Matthew Castaneda, Desirae Castaneda, Kassi Castaneda. Great Grandchildren Johanna Castaneda, Emily Castaneda and Lea S.
