Obituary

We are saddened to say that another angel has earned her wings. Polly Andrews Teltschik, 91, of Corpus Christi, was called home to her eternal rest on Thursday August 5, 2021 with her son by her side. Polly was born in Clegg, Texas on April 28, 1930 to Maynard and Malinda Andrews. Her soon to be husband, Alex, pursued her to ride in his brand new 1949 Mercury but she kept saying no, until that one day when she surprised him and jumped in. After that day they were inseparable until his death in June of 2008. Polly married her loving, kind and generous husband on June 17, 1950 and they raised their family in Robstown, Texas. Polly was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her three brothers and three sisters. Polly is survived by her two sons Robert W. (Susan) Teltschik of Corpus Christi and James B. (Lisa) Teltschik of San Antonio, four grandchildren Paul, Kathryn, Lauren and Reagan, three great grandchildren Kendall, Kennedy and Noah, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Polly was a strong woman that set a fine example for her boys of how a God-fearing person should live their life and be an example for others to live their lives.

Polly was a strong independent woman, born before her time. She always worked and even owned her own business, Superior Dry Cleaners and Laundry on Staples @ Park Streets, in the 1960s and 1970s. Before owning her own business, Polly worked with Doc McGregor, a well-known photographer in Corpus Christi. After she sold the business, she worked as a seamstress for JR Viola Cleaners, The Whole Nine Yards and South Texas Draperies, and she worked until she was 89 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who met her but we take comfort in knowing she is with Alex, the love of her life and her family in the presence of God. She was the last of her generation of the Andrews and Teltschik families.

Her boys and her grandkids were her pride and joy. Polly never missed any of Paul and Kathryn's school functions or piano recitals, and never missed a local Jake Ward concert! She even made some of the out-of-town concerts. You could always find her up at the stage directly in front of Paul. Polly was dubbed the Memaw for Jake Ward Band, #1 Fan. She made many friends at the concerts, and she was treated like a rock star! So many people came by to introduce themselves and get a selfie with Memaw!

The family would like to thank Embassy Suites (her home since the February freeze!) especially Jacob and Melody.  They treated her like family, even having a celebration for her on her 91st birthday.  The family would also like to thank Homecare Dimensions, especially Whitney, Daniel and Colleen, and Angel Bright Hospice for treating her with so much love, dignity and compassion. And thank you to all the friends and family that came by to visit with her. In lieu of flowers, contributions or memorials may be made in her name to a charity of your choice.

A Graveside Service will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Weimar, Texas on Saturday August 14, 2021 at 11:00 am. Guardian Funeral Home Corpus Christi.
