Pete Barrientes, Jr., of Corpus Christi, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Pete was born in Port Isabel, Texas, on January 5, 1926. He retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot in 1987. Pete was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, and was a survivor of the battle in Iwo Jima, Japan. He was also present at the raising of the flag on Mount Suribachi, and from that battle he received a Purple Heart. During his journey in life you may have known him as your Air condition Repairman. He has help many with there A/C problems. He also was an owner of a couple of Shrimp boats and he loved the salt water, and seafood was his favorite. His family was his whole life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Romana, siblings, Justo, Alfonso, Lorenzo, Manuel, Jimmy, Consuelo and Esperanza.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Stella, son, Pete Barrientes, III, daughter, Mona Tehle (Husband David) of Nashville, Tennesse, daughter, Casilda Vasquez, five grandchildren, and one great granddaughter, sisters, are Sr. Mary Stella Barrientes of Corpus Christi, Texas, Isabel Perez of Brownsville, Texas, and Viola Guillot of Port Isabel, Texas, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Guardian funeral home chapel A with a Holy Rosary and Celebration of Pete's life to begin at 7:00 p.m. that evening.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2013 at Christi The King Catholic church, 3423 Rojo/Arlington St.

Burial will follow with Military honors at The Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery, 9974 IH 37 access rd.
