Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pedro I. Ramirez Jr., lovingly known as Pete, who was born on October 23, 1951, in Zapata, Texas.  He peacefully passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family, and went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pete lived a life defined by love, loyalty, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family.  His legacy of service, devotion, and integrity will forever be cherished by his family and friends and will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and father-in-law.  Pete was also a proud United States Army Vietnam veteran who honorably served his country and carried that strong sense of duty, integrity, and commitment throughout his life.  He dedicated 33 years of faithful service to the Corpus Christi Army Depot, where he was widely known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Aurora Ramirez, and his brother-in-law, Vicente Ramos.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Paulita "Polly" Ramirez; his two sons, Javier Rene (Veronika) Ramirez and Jesse Roel (Elisa) Ramirez; his grandchildren, Javier Rene Ramirez Jr., Jose Angel Ramirez, Lisette Ramirez, Armando Salazar, Andrew Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Valarie Rodriguez, John Matthew Ramirez, Jesse Roel Ramirez Jr., Michael Estanislado Ramirez, Deven Ramirez, Derrek Ramirez, and Dareyen Guerrero; and his adored great-granddaughter, Maya Rae Ramirez.

Pete is also survived by his siblings: Estanislado (Hilda) Ramirez, Blasa (Mario) Pena, Diana (Ricardo) Rincon, Alicia (Vicente+) Ramos, Ruben Ramirez, Mario (Carmen) Ramirez, Aurora (Jorge) Salazar, Juan Jose Ramirez and his fiancée Ana, Patricia (Freddie) Castillo, and Veronica (Javier) Cantu, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family extends a very special thank you to Wendy and Jesse Vasquez, Ruthie Metcalf, Leticia Martinez, Romey Marin, and Rosie Amaya for the wonderful care they provided; the staff at Care Planning Institute; Lizzie Herrera and the staff at New Century Hospice; Melissa Shadle for her kind and tender nursing care to her uncle; the VA Home Based Medical Team — Dr. Pallekonda, Riza Auza, Eileen Isaacs, Dr. Livingston, and Steven Mehota — LT Fox and Dr. Felts for their dedicated services and support.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Guardian Funeral Home located at 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417. A Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:30 am followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 pm. Pete will then be escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders on his final ride from Guardian Funeral Home ending at the Crossroads Event Center in Robstown, Texas where he will receive military honors.

Pete will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones for the rest of their lives.
