Paul R. Blanco, 71, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2015 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born in Banquete, Texas on June 27, 1943. Mr. Blanco served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Coastal States Refinery after 30+ years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Blanco, Jr., and a brother, Samuel Blanco, Jr. and his parents, Samuel & Beatrice Blanco. He is survived by his loving wife, Viola Blanco, daughter, Rosemary B.(Gabriel) Maldonado, three grandchildren, David Joshua Maldonado, Josefa Nicole Maldonado and Amber Pauline Maldonado, 4 sisters, Lydia Ward, Dolores Gutierrez, Maria Rodela, Victoria Salinas, numerous nieces & nephews, cousins. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 at Guardian funeral home chapel "A" with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church,SPID/Kostoryz. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
