Patricia Kay Leal (Tricia Mikeal), 65, passed away on February 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. Tricia was born on October 27, 1960, to Richard and Edweina Mikeal who preceded her in death.
Tricia was born and raised in Corpus Christi. She was an exceptional student who was very outgoing and had many friends. Tricia had an adventurous spirit and was always open to try new things. She enjoyed sports and living an active life, spending time at the beach, and sharing fellowship and activities with her church family at Ebony Acres Baptist Church, where she was baptized and faithfully attended.
She attended Roy Miller High School and then graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos. After graduating she returned to Corpus Christi and then several years later an opportunity arose that led her to move to Austin in 1988. Shortly after moving to Austin, she got a job at the State Comptroller’s Office where she worked for 25 years. She loved living in Austin and the Austin lifestyle! The icing on the cake was that it was the home of her favorite team, The University of Texas Longhorns! She was a devoted fan and loved all things UT, even requesting that those attending her memorial service wear the school colors in her honor (optional).
She also enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys Team and the Houston Astros and watching her favorite player, Jose Altuve! Another passion of Tricia’s was cooking and baking. She loved to bake cookies, cakes, and desserts for family gatherings and holidays. She was famous for her delicious chicken salad and was always ready to make it for us for any occasion. Tricia also loved to travel and traveled to many different countries in her life and often talked about where she wanted to go next.
After retiring, Tricia moved to New Braunfels, where she lived with her two beloved cats, Ripple and Layla. She recently relocated to Corpus Christi to be close to family. Tricia will always be remembered for her love of life, adventurous spirit, and her generosity.
She is survived by her sister, Sherry (Pat) Bradley; niece, Stephanie (Jaime) Gomez; nephews, Jake (Jenny) Persall, Josh (Rachel) Persall; great niece, Kelsi Curren, great great nephew, Kash Curren; aunts, Janice Radnor, Donna Cantu, Bettie Coakley; uncle, Dever (Patsy) Edwards and many loving cousins and extended family members.
Our family would like to thank the outstanding nurses and staff at Angel Bright Hospice for taking such excellent care of Tricia and for the loving support and kindness to our family.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Tricia will be held on March 25, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown S. H. 286 in Corpus Christi.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to Sweet Dreams Senior Pet Sanctuary in memory of Tricia. Sweet Dreams Pet Sanctuary is in Seguin, TX. Sweet Dreams specializes in finding homes for senior pets of individuals who can no longer care for their pets. Tricia was thrilled to learn that her cat, Ripple, had been accepted by Sweet Dreams. Knowing that Ripple would spend her days in a caring and secure setting and even have the opportunity to be adopted gave Tricia great peace of mind when she could no longer care for her.
