Ouida Van Dyke passed away peacefully on July 31, 2013.
She celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends on July 6th of this year. A 21-year resident of Portland and Corpus Christi, she was active in the New Neighbors League, especially Dining Out, Eaters Unlimited, and the Bunco Group. She was an avid reader, an enthusiastic card player, a 'by-ear' piano player, and a talented crafter, known for her Christmas ornaments and vintage Santas. She loved her home, her garden, and her little 'collections.' She was grateful to the last for the compassion of her caregiver, Melba, and for the kindness of her neighbors and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Sophie Roedel of Mobile, Alabama. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Van Dyke; one son, Anthony Dallmann-Jones and his wife Amy of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; two daughters, Paige Byrne Shortal and her husband Pat of Union, Missouri; Lisa Connolly and her husband Mike of Schertz, Texas; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be a private gathering for family and friends to celebrate her life.
