Otis Bismark Bell, 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 in a local hospital. Otis was born November 4, 1935 to the late Andy Bell, Sr. and Ethel (Adams) Bell. He graduated from Solomon M. Coles High School and attended Del Mar College. Otis is also a graduate of the FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia. He is a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Corpus Christi Police Department having worked in numerous capacities from 1960 until his retirement in 1995 as Commander of the Community Services Division. Otis is a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and their United Methodist Men.
Otis enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and reading James Patterson novels. He loved visits with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews; telling them family stories and giving sage advice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; Andy, Jr., Minor, Donald and Jack. He is survived by his wife, Betty; one son, Christopher, Corpus Christi, TX, two daughters; Regina Bell Nelson (Bruce), Katy, TX and Effie Wilson, Atlanta, GA., ten grandchildren and six great-grand children, three brothers; John, Mobile, AL, Rev. Troy, Buda, TX, Gerald, Corpus Christi, TX, two sisters; Ella Clerkley and Annie Hatfield of Corpus Christi, TX, along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown Access Road, on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.
Graveside Service will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with Full Military and Police Honors.
