In Loving Memory Of
Oscar P. Navejar, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on September 12, 1946, in Alice, Texas, and passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 79. Oscar lived a life grounded in love for his family, a strong work ethic, and unwavering values that guided him throughout his life. Oscar was a joy to everyone who knew him.
Preceded in Death
Oscar was preceded in death by his baby sister and brother, Wanda and Johnny Joe, his parents Oscar Salinas and Beatrice Perez Navejar.
Surviving Family
Oscar is survived by his sisters Baudelia "Bodie" Lerma (Ernesto), Beatrice Moreno (Adolfo), brothers Daniel "Danny" Navejar and Baldemar Navejar (Sylvia). His wife, Diana Cantu Navejar, his children, Krista Nicole Trevino (Albert), Oscar Paul Navejar and Robert Ryan Navejar, his granddaughter, Mia Ramirez. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Early Life
Oscar was born in Alice, Tx and graduated from William Adams High in 1965 where he was the class Valedictorian, the Star catcher on the baseball team in the Spring, and offensive guard on the football team in the fall. He then attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville where he majored in Chemistry and was a member of the ROTC.
Military
After college, he was commissioned as an officer into the US Army Corps of Engineers and was later promoted to 1st Lieutenant in the Army Chemical Corps. Oscar's military service and the fact that he served his country proudly during the Vietnam Era was a tremendous source of pride throughout his life. After his Army service Career ended, Oscar received his Master of Business Degree from Corpus Christi State University.
Marriage
Oscar married the love of his life, on August 30, 1968. He and Diana built a strong and lasting family. Together, they shared a life rooted in commitment, faith, and mutual respect. Diana was his constant partner and support, and their bond was the foundation for the family they raised.
Work Life
Oscar worked as a salesman for most of his life and won numerous awards as the top salesman throughout his career. He had many colleagues and customers that he worked with throughout the years that became life-long friends.
A Devoted Family Man
He was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Paul and Ryan, and his daughter, Krista. Oscar led his children by example, teaching them the importance of responsibility, perseverance, and standing by one's word. He took great pride in their accomplishments and the people they became.
Oscar was a loving grandfather to his granddaughter, Mia, who often called him "the best ever," a title that made Oscar beam ear to ear with pride every time he heard it. Being "Grandpa" was one of his greatest joys, and his time spent with Mia was a constant source of happiness in his life.
Known as much for his friendly smile, kindness, steady presence, and wisdom, as he was for his playful wit and sense of humor, Oscar was someone others could always count on. His word was his bond. If he said it, he was going above and beyond to make it happen. He didn't seek attention or recognition, he simply showed up, worked hard, and took care of business and those he loved.
Oscar's Legacy
Oscar leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and family values that will stand the test of time and last generations. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He never met a stranger; if you talked to him for more than a minute or two, he became a friend. He always had a way of leaving you happier than you were when he found you.
Oscar was called many things throughout his life, friend, manager, coach, dad, husband, brother, grandpa, but if you ask him, his favorite was when Mia called him, THE BEST EVER.
Public visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Guardian funeral home with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at 9:00 a.m. at Guardian funeral home with the funeral procession to depart at 10:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass that will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Most Precious Blood Catholic church 3502 Saratoga Blvd. Burial will follow with full military honors at 1:00pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery 9974 I H. 37 North Access Road
