IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Oralia Valle
Ramirez
October 31, 1944 – November 12, 2025
Oralia Valle Ramirez passed peacefully in her sleep and joined her parents, Miguel and Mary, her sister, Lupe, and her great nephew, Aaron, in heaven on November 12, 2025.
Born in Harlingen, Texas on October 31, 1944, Oralia moved with her family to Gregory-Portland in 1948. She attended school there from elementary through high school. After graduating from Gregory-Portland High School, she became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Following a few years in nursing, Oralia pursued higher education, earning her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Texas A&I University–Kingsville in 1971. She later completed her Master of Science from Texas A&I in 1978.
Oralia began her teaching career as an art teacher at Gregory-Portland Junior High School, where she inspired generations of students over a span of 24 years. A passionate advocate for the arts, she was a driving force in the Coastal Bend arts community and an active member of the Art Museum of South Texas and Texas Trends in Art Education.
In retirement, Oralia discovered a deep love for golf and became an avid player, achieving an extraordinary seven hole-in-ones! All of which were hit at NorthShore Country Club, where she was a long-time member. She also found joy volunteering at the South Texas Botanical Gardens and was a proud member of the Portland ChatWork Civic Club.
Oralia married the love of her life, Felix Ramirez, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past June. Their greatest joy was taking their nieces and nephews—Dina, Destiny, Rudy, and Randy—on month-long summer road trips across the United States, creating countless adventures, experiences, and cherished memories. As Willie Nelson's biggest fan, she was always ready to be On the Road Again.
Oralia is survived by her husband, Felix Ramirez; her sister, Dora Valle Flores (Fred);brother-in-law, Rudy H Moreno (married to sister, Lupe V Moreno, who died in 2020); nieces, Dina and Destiny Flores; nephews, Rudy (Grace) and Randy (Becky) Moreno; great-nieces, Miranda and Mia Moreno, great-grand niece, Kleio; great-nephews, Zachary and Brandon Moreno; and numerous beloved family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, family kindly ask donations be made to the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center and/or to the Art Museum of South Texas.
A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2025 followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic church, 107 Church St. in Gregory, Texas.
