Mr. Omar Martinez, 69 years of age, has gone home to be the Lord on April 1, 2024.
He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 17, 1954 to his father Trinidad Martinez and mother Dionicia Guerrero Martinez.
In his younger years he was a farm worker working in the fields with his parents.
He was raised in the Pentecostal church. Where he later met his wife Esperanza Quintero and were married by his uncle Juan. This past December 5th they completed 52 years of marriage.
Omar worked for the Corpus Christi Town Club for 47 years. That is where he met his Best Friend/ Brother Santos Salazar. Omar was very passionate about all he did. His motto was if your gonna do something do it right the first time. Omar also worked for Mr. Philip Plant his dear friend for many years. He helped him with private parties and being his personal chauffeur.
If anyone ever needed anything he would help without hesitation doing food benefits, To helping fix cars and helping his neighborhood church with Christmas decorations. He was always Bar b queuing just to have family gatherings. On Christmas morning Omar and his family would pass out fruit baskets and bags to family and friends. He did this for over 20 years.
After 911 happened he tried to enlist into the Army. Just to go and volunteer and help clean up. He was denied because of old age. This was another sign of his love and dedication to his family.
He enjoyed watching National Geographic, Cowboy movies and Mexican Novelas. He also enjoyed attending The Pan De Campos in San Diego where most of his family would compete.
The family would like to thank Spohn Hospital Stroke Unit, PAM Rehab, Alameda Oaks, River City Hospice from Alice his CNA's Veronica and Laura, Chaplain Michelle and last Angel Bright Hospice for comfort care.
Omar is preceded in death by his parents Trinidad Martinez and Dionicia Guerrero Martinez, grand-daughter Baby Natalia, brother Trinidad Martinez, sister Ermelinda Olstrom, also preceded by two angel baby brothers who join him in heaven.
He is survived by his wife Esperanza Quintero Martinez; daughters: Irma Martinez, Ermelinda Martinez, Sandra (Nathan) Zamora, Gloria (Noaha) Martinez; grandchildren Jonathon (Julissa), Jon Roman (Avante), Jon Andrew (KeShawne), Alonzo (Jessica), Emma, Sabrina (John), Drake, Mason, Nadia, Noaha, Naline; and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary (Jose) Sanchez, Richard (Oly) Martinez, Maggie (Manuel+) Martinez.
Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 with a Catholic service and Holy Rosary to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel, 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78417.
