Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and fond memories that we announce the passing of Mr. Omar Canales, who took his final breath on December 19, 2025. Born on October 19, 1943, Omar lived a remarkable life of 82 years filled with kindness and wisdom. He was a warm, kind, and helpful individual who dedicated his life to serving others.

Omar was predeceased by his beloved parents, Andres Canales Jr. and Isaura Gonzalez, and his loving wife Rebecca Canales. He leaves his only brother Osvaldo Canales. His legacy is carried on by his children Brian Canales (Michelle),Kenneth Canales (Diana), Leslie Canales(Rudy), and his grandchildren Hailey N. Canales, Jeremy A. Canales, Iliana R. Canales(Roberto III), Brock S. Canales, Leland S. Canales, Dylan A. Pena, Lauren S. Rodriguez,  River L. Canales, Rain Canales, Skyler Canales(Victoria), Melody Manon(Diego), Hunter Canales(Whitney). He also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren, Salem I. Canales, Nehemiah M. Garcia, Nazariah Kendra-Mae Garcia, Mia Manon, Milo Manon, Daisy Manon, Cash Canales, Carly Canales, Apollo Canales and Ocean Canales. Belinda (niece), Roger (newphew), Ruban (nephew).He also leaves behind his girlfriend of 23 years Elida Guerrero and family.  His family was his pride and joy, and he left them with lessons of generosity and respect, always reminding them "to do unto others as you would have  them do unto to you."

Undoubtedly, some of Omar's greatest accomplishments reach back to his time in Okinawa, Japan in the US Army and the esteemed rank of Captain he achieved at the fire department of Naval Air Station Kingsville. He was a man of great courage and determination, he loved riding his Harley's as well spreading the word of God by receiving his Doctrine in Bible Study,  characteristics that earned him respect and admiration wherever he went.

Omar's legacy is not only in his remarkable achievements but also in the joy, knowledge, and kindness he brought into people's lives. He had a gift of making people feel seen and valued, and his life was a testament to his unparalleled generosity of spirit. Amid his many roles, he was a mentor, a friend, and a beacon of strength for many.

In his memory, let us continue to uphold the values and teachings that Omar Canales held dear. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, we also celebrate a life lived with utmost purpose and integrity. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever remain in our hearts.

Public visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Guardian funeral home 5922 Crosstown with Funeral Services to be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow with full military honors at Memory Gardens Cemetery 8200 Old Brownsville Rd. at 1:00 p.m.
