Mrs. Olivia G. Mendez, passed away peacefully November 19, 2014 surrounded by her family at the age of 86. She was born on July 20, 1928 to Mr. Manuel Gomez and Eulalia Soliz Gomez in Alice, Texas.

Olivia was a good wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for good things she did for this community, doing volunteer work, and her good cooking and baking. While caring for her children and grandchildren she did volunteer work for Holy Family Church and School as well as Most Precious Blood School.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers and 3 sisters all from Alice, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Jose N. Mendez, two sons, Joseph Michael (Diana C.) Mendez, Jess E. (Diana G.) Mendez and grandchildren Adrianna N. (Luke) Bendick, Kristina M. (Lucio) Rodriguez Jr., John Michael, and Joshua Michael Mendez. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Guardian funeral home chapel A with a Holy Rosary and Celebration of Olivia's life to begin at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church St. Jude Chapel 3502 Saratoga Blvd.

In lieu of flowers make donations to Most Precious Blood School.
