IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Olivia Medina
Leibert
October 22, 1929 – October 27, 2025
Olivia Medina Leibert passed away peacefully in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was born on October 22, 1929, in Laredo, Texas, to Nicholas Medina and Maria Castillo.
In 1955, while living in Lafayette, Indiana, Olivia met and married the love of her life, George W. "Hank" Leibert, on December 23. They shared nearly 57 wonderful years together before his passing in 2012. In 1991, Hank and Olivia returned to her hometown of Corpus Christi, where they built a welcoming home on Donegal Drive—a place that became a true cornerstone of friendship and community.
Olivia was known for her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit. She never met a stranger and was always ready for a good conversation or a shared laugh. Her passion for dancing filled her life with joy—she continued to dance and take lessons well into her later years, often outlasting partners half her age.
A gifted baker, Olivia was especially famous for her delicious carrot cake, a staple at family gatherings and neighborhood celebrations alike. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, where her faith and kindness touched many.
Olivia also had a tremendous heart for animals. She could never turn away a stray and was known for taking in cats and dogs in need, giving them love, shelter, and care without hesitation. Her compassion extended to every living creature, reflecting the deep kindness that guided her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George "Hank" Leibert; her parents, Nicholas Medina and Maria Castillo; and her siblings, Elvira (Richard) Woods and Nicholas (Julia) Medina.
Olivia will be deeply missed by her many loving nieces and nephews, extended family, and her cherished Donegal Drive "family"—Magalee, Greg, Eric, Alejandra, and Sharon—whose care and friendship brought her great comfort and joy.
Her life was one of grace, generosity, and laughter—a reminder that love and community are the greatest legacies we leave behind.
The family would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the team at Angel Bright Hospice.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, November 14th from 4pm-7pm at Guardian Funeral Home with the Chapel Service to begin at 6pm. The Inurnment will take place the following week.
