Obituary

Olga Brown Albornoz, age 81, passed away on March 8, 2018. A lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, she was born to Guadalupe Santiago Boyd on July 11, 1936. Olga attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in 1955.
Olga married the love of her life and life-long companion Gonzalo Albornoz on January 24, 1959, in Corpus Christi. Together, they raised three children.
Olga took pride in her work throughout her life, whether raising her children, supporting school and PTA activities or managing accounts and contracts for the companies she worked for during her career. Olga brought her organizational skills to accounts payable at Lichtenstein's Department Store and to Mercantile National Bank, where she was head bookkeeper. Once her children were born, Olga turned her attention to supporting them as a full-time mother and home-maker. She was active at Central Park Elementary School in PTA fund-raising, volunteering, tutoring in the library and acting as a home room mother. She served as a troop leader in the Girl Scouts for many years. Later, as her children matured, Olga obtained her real-estate license and helped others in the community find their first homes. In 1980, she joined the Corpus Christi Army Depot, retiring as a Contract Specialist in 2001.
After retiring, Olga enjoyed travelling across the U.S. and Europe, finding new restaurants, good food and enjoyable wines. While at home, she could be found reading a good book, catching up with old friends from her Hi-Fairnessee Girls Club or watching Sunday news shows. She always looked forward to and enjoyed visits from her three grandchildren. Olga was fond of saying that she had a "great life."
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gonzalo, her dearest brother, Alfred Boyd (Yolanda Cantu), her loving sister, Evelyn Boyd, her children Laura Albornoz (Bret Larimer), Linda Albornoz (Peter Ryder), David Albornoz (Daphyne Collins) and her grandchildren, Nicolas and Juliana Larimer and Sophia Ryder.
Mrs. Albornoz family will receive friends and family on Monday, March 12, 2018 starting at 4:00 p.m. with a Celebration of life service to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Guardian funeral home chapel "A".
