Oel Duty

Oel Duty, age 89, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Oel, the 12th of thirteen children, was born on April 28, 1924 in Pike County Kentucky to Wesley and Minty Duty.
At the age of 18, Oel enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country for twenty-one years. While serving in the Navy he received the Good Conduct Medal (6th award), the National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Ariel Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Occupational Medal. After 23 years of service, Oel retired from the Navy and went to work for CCAD, where he worked for another 19 years. Oel was also, a lifetime member of the Fleet Reserve Association where he held many membership positions and helped his community.
Oel is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Helen, his two daughters, Pat Ingram and Donna Phillips, his son, Steven Duty, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren as well as additional family and friends.
The Family would like to thank Legacy Hospice for their care and friendship during the final chapters of his life.
A graveside service will be held at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 10:00.
