Obituary

Norman Craig Young passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, leaving behind a life full of love, curiosity, and quiet adventure. He will be remembered not only for the years he lived, but for the warmth, humor, and steady presence he gave so freely to those around him.

Craig shared a lifelong love story with his high school sweetheart, Catherine, whom he married in June of 1970. Together, they built a life grounded in loyalty, laughter, and deep companionship—a partnership that stood as an example to all who knew them.

He was a devoted father to his son, Kevin Young (Carrie), and a proud grandfather to Brianna Young (Rico) and Tyler Young (Omy). His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in watching them grow, always offering support, wisdom, and the occasional well-timed joke.

Craig is lovingly survived by his mother, Johnnie Ray Seale, and his brother, Lyman Young (Patricia) and many nieces, nephews and several generations of cousins, who will continue to cherish his memory and hold him close in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, G.A. Rylander, James Young, and Richard Seale, grandmother and grandfather Wanda and H.O. Williams and we take comfort in imagining their reunion—welcoming him with open arms.

After a long and honorable career, Craig retired in 2013 from Flint Hills Resources, where he devoted 32 years of hard work, integrity, and commitment. His colleagues knew him as someone you could rely on—thoughtful, dependable, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Craig had a unique spirit that made life more interesting. Whether he was collecting pennies, snake wrangling, or heading off on one of his many little adventures, he approached the world with curiosity and a sense of wonder. His family fondly referred to him as “our social butterfly” because he never met a stranger. He found meaning in the simple things and joy in the unexpected, leaving behind memories that will be treasured for generations.

A lifelong lover of history, Craig found great joy in exploring the stories of the past, especially those of the American Civil War. Books were his constant companions; his shelves and his heart were filled with them.

Those who knew Craig will remember his gentle heart, his playful nature, and the way he made ordinary moments feel special. His legacy lives on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the love he gave so generously.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29th, 2026 at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown Corpus Christi, Tx. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm with Memorial Service starting at 3:00pm.
