Norbert Joseph Schroeder, age 78, passed peacefully surrounded by family after a long illness. Known by many as “Bert”, he was born on January 21, 1948 in Violet, Texas to his parents Anton and Lena Schroeder.

Norbert graduated from St. Johns Catholic School in Robstown, Texas. He played baseball for them and completed in the Nueces County Live Stock Show. He met his wife Loraine Schroeder and got married on June 17, 1978; they had two children.

Norbert was a well-known welder in the community for many years and retired in 2016. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and football and baseball fan. After high school he joined the Army National Guard. When discharged he was a sergeant. He spent his days watching his birds on the drive way and in the bird houses he made.

Norbert is preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Lena Schroeder; brother, Leonard Schroeder; sister, Mildred Kosarek; nephew, Leo McCumber great niece Kayla Gottardy, and his grand daughter, Caroline Schroeder.

Norbert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Loraine Schroeder; daughter, Rosie Blanchard; son, Troy Schroeder (Courtney); brothers, Patrick Schroeder (Betty), Danny Schroeder (Lisa) sisters, Evelyn McCumber (Frank), Delores Valka (Delvin), Gladys Addison (Mike), Bernice Barraza (Chuck), Janet Hartman (Jimmy) Charles Kosarek; granddaughter, Felicity Schroeder; grandson, William Blanchard as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
