Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Niseforo (Forty) Garcia Jr., who left this life peacefully on October 27, 2026 at the age of 80. Born on February 21, 1946, in Concepcion, Texas to Niceforo and Elisa Garcia, Forty lived a life defined by love, hard work, generosity and unwavering devotion to his family.

After graduating from Benavides High School, Forty began work at the Corpus Christi Army Depot where he fell in love with Army aviation. He cherished his job and worked for 46 years before retiring. During his career he progressed from a Helper to Hangar Chief and retired with 4500 hours of sick leave. He was very proud that a country boy from small town South Texas was blessed with a career that gave him so much satisfaction and provided very well for him and his family. Forty was a life time member of the Army Aviation Association and his family recently honored him with a paver placed at the entrance of the Army Aviation Museum at Fort Rucker Alabama.

Forty loved working with his hands and he learned very young, from his father, how to be an auto mechanic, how to troubleshoot and fix any problem around the house. He enjoyed working on his cars and completing projects around the house and he was known as the one who could fix anything. He never hesitated to lend his talents to anyone who needed help with a project.

Music was very important to Forty and he had a great love of all music, especially country and Tejano. He was an excellent dancer and would be the first one to hit the dance floor. Forty was also a very patriotic man who never failed to fly the American flag everyday on his front yard flag pole

Forty loved spending time with his family, whether it was just being together, sharing meals, watching movies, taking vacations, or visiting amusement parks. He especially enjoyed riding roller coasters and other thrill rides with his sons.

Forty’s sons and grandson, or his boys as he called them, filled him with such happiness and joy. The pride he felt in them could not be measured. He loved watching Joey and Daniel grow up and follow their dreams. He was there every step of the way to support them and celebrate every accomplishment. He was proud that Joey followed in his footsteps at the Corpus Christi Army Depot and that Daniel is serving as a Warrant Officer in the US Army. Forty shared a special bond with his grandson DJ. He was especially grateful for the time he was able to spend babysitting DJ daily as an infant and toddler. He was very proud that DJ participates in sports and plays the guitar in the Mariachi band at school. Attending his sporting events and Mariachi performances brought him special joy.

Forty was preceded in death by his parents Niceforo and Elisa Garcia and his sister Baudelia Mendez. He is survived by his wife Vickie, son Niseforo III (Joey) and his wife Marianne, son Daniel and his wife Yoobin and his beloved grandson Daniel Jr. He is also survived by his brother Rene Garcia and numerous nephews.

Although his journey on this Earth has come to an end, the love he shared and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He will be missed and may he rest in eternal peace.

A private, family celebration of life will be held in the near future.
