IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicolas
Casarez
June 19, 1930 – August 21, 2025
Nicolas Casarez, 95, of Pettus, Texas, entered eternal rest on August 21, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1930, in Pettus, Texas, to Jose and Gertrudiz Casarez.
Nicolas was a man of many roles — a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather, minister, mechanic, coach, and umpire. He spent his life teaching lessons about God, family, and patience, always balancing his strong spirit with a gentle heart. On the field, he reminded players that his little girls could hit better than them; behind the plate as an umpire, he was admired for his fairness no matter what the crowd thought. As a minister, he showed his softer side, sharing wisdom, encouragement, and faith. If you took all of these traits and put them into one, you would have his parenting style, and you would have dad.
He enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, watching old western movies, and keeping up with FOX News. Above all, he loved his family and never stopped being their biggest supporter. As his children remember: "He was your harshest critic but also your number one fan."
Nicolas is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Gertrudiz Casarez; brothers Pedro Casarez, Manuel Casarez, Mariano Casarez, Concepcion Soliz (Tana) and Jose Casarez, Jr.; and sisters Eglentina Casarez, Maria Aguirre (Mana), Guadalupe Soto (Pita), Claudina Burks, and Ladislada Garcia (Lala). He is also preceded in death by his son Daniel Casarez and granddaughter Sally Saenz.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, M. Magdalena Casarez; his children John Casarez (Delia), Manuel Casarez (Lupita), Yolanda Goynes (Michael), Sylvia Lugo, Rachel Casares (Pete), Casandra Casarez, and Lisa Garcia (Jaime); his brother Cleofas Casarez; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who will cherish his memory.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 6, 2025, at Liberty Baptist Church, 10919 IH-37 Access Road, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Memorial Service by Pastor Steve Exondine.
Nicolas leaves behind a legacy of faith, fairness, and love — one that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
