Natalia "Nellie" Resendez Garcia, began her heavenly journey on July 12, 2024, at the age of 61. Nellie was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on November 25, 1962, to her loving parents, Rogelio and Aracelia Resendez.
Nellie was a beacon of love and kindness, always ensuring that those around her felt truly cherished. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she embodied the essence of unconditional love and care. Nellie graduated from Carroll High School in 1980 and worked as a physician's administrator for a decade before dedicating herself entirely to her family as a homemaker. Being a mother and wife was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into her family, offering unwavering love and support.
Reunited in heaven with her parents Rogelio and Aracelia Resendez, her sister Patricia Resendez, and her niece Laura Resendez Rosas, Nellie leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth.
She leaves beautiful memories with her beloved husband, Augustine Miguel Garcia "Mickie." Their love story, spanning 52 years from junior high school sweethearts to 43 years of marriage, is a testament to their unwavering bond. She is eternally loved by her cherished son, Alex and Grace Garcia, and her beloved daughter Amy and Eric Olivarez and her treasured grandchildren—Angel, Anthony, John, Sean, Augustine "AJ", Isaac and Israel—will forever hold her in their hearts. Her dear sisters, Sandra Garcia and Dennise Resendez, along with a multitude of extended family and friends—in-laws, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews—carry her memory and keep her spirit alive.
Nellie's creative spirit was boundless. She had a special talent for crafting and took immense joy in creating custom gifts for her loved ones, always spreading joy with her thoughtful creations. Her green thumb was evident in her vibrant garden, and her home was filled with the cheerful songs of her beautiful birds. Nellie's playful personality and kind heart were a source of light and laughter to all who knew her.
A celebration of Nellie's life will be held, cherishing the love and kindness she bestowed upon everyone. Public visitation will take place on Monday, July 22, 2024 , from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, with a Catholic Vigil service beginning at 6:30 p.m. that evening. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 , at 8:00 a.m., with a procession departing at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery. A reception will be held afterward at SS Cyril - Casper Hall.
Nellie's memory will forever be a guiding light, illuminating the path of love and kindness she so gracefully walked. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her ever-loving spirit and generosity.
