Nancy P. Dwyer, a long-time resident of Mount Carmel Home in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 2, 2015; she was 79 years old. Nancy was born on September 23, 1935, in Mayfield, New Jersey. She raised her family in Miami, Florida, where she also taught swimming and sailing to hundreds of children and young adults. In her thirties, she returned to college and became a Registered Nurse, specializing in neurology, and working for over twenty years at Mercy Hospital in South Miami. Following the death of her husband, Lieutenant Robert W. Dwyer, a Dade County Police officer, Nancy retired to Memphis, Tennessee, to be near her son, and where she was an active member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church. In 2007, Nancy moved to Corpus Christi, returning to the warmer weather and ocean that she loved, and more importantly, to be closer to her grandchildren in Corpus and Houston. She is survived by her three children, Cathy Hoeg (Matt), Debbie Simank (Ron), John Welborn (Mori), and stepson, Michael Dwyer (Gabby), and eight grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Nancy's family is grateful for the loving and patient care provided by Mount Carmel Home, Davita Dialysis, and Angel Bright Hospice. Next to her family, Nancy loved and delighted in all animals. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Pee Wee's Pet Adoption World and Sanctuary would be most appreciated. Service will be private.
