Bernice was delivered in 1937 at home near Boulogne, Florida by a midwife who was also her grandparent. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Homeland, Georgia

She was an excellent student throughout school and a cheerleader in Highschool when she met a boy on a motorcycle who had come to crash her brother's party. That boy turned out to be the love of her life. They were married in 1952 and stayed married for 65 years even though she was a Florida Gator fan and he is a Georgia Bulldog fan. Their living room, half blue and orange, half red and black has weathered many events through the years.

Her husband was a long-haul truck driver while she stayed at home to raise their two children in Florida and Georgia before moving to Texas. She often would load the kids into the car to meet daddy out on the state highway because she couldn't wait for him to get home. She was always there for him, their children, and anyone else who needed her. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting blankets and crafting. On weekend nights she and her husband enjoyed going to the local Country Honky Tonk to meet up with friends for a fun night of dancing.

She became a grandmother in 1975, at the age of 38, and from then on she was known by all as "Granny." Her guest bedroom was quickly turned into "The Grandkids Room" where she was delighted for them to stay the night, the week or as long as they wanted. Her family, friends, friends of friends and the entire neighborhood knew they were always welcomed in her home. The first question she'd ask was "Are you hungry?" as she always had something prepared on the stove. Most knew that if you stopped by on Saturday morning you'd get fresh baked biscuits and sausage gravy. The best time to stop in was Sunday Mornings where you'd be treated to a "Granny Breakfast." This prized meal consisting of grits, Purnell's sausage patties, fried potatoes, eggs and toast with grape jelly and was always served with a heaping side of love and occasionally a lecture if you were due one

In 1995 she was blessed to become a great-grandmother for the first time. Most of her great-grandchildren live nearby where they'd often stop by, with friends in tow, for a visit because they knew no one left Granny's without a snack and a chocolate Yoo-Hoo.

Bernice "Granny" Herrin is preceded in death by her mother and father Violet and Conrad Trouille , her siblings Ruth Libby, Wallace Trouille, Bill Trouille, Cecil Trouille and Dean Trouille, and her grandson Christopher T. Herrin.

Bernice "Granny" Herrin is survived by her husband Kenneth Herrin, daughter Glenda Herrin (Louis), son Tim Herrin (Tina), sister Jeanette Musgrove, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many friends. She will be missed by all.

Memorials may be given to The American Cancer Society.
