) age 72, died Friday, August 6, 2021 at a local nursing facility.
He was born January 25, 1949 at Lubbock, Texas to Morgan C.
Looney
and Iris Vera Evans, and moved with his family to the Corpus Christi area in 1953. While growing up at Chapman Ranch, he attended public school at Petronila. Mike finished his schooling at San Antonio's Peacock Military Academy.
After living in the Dallas area and working for United Airlines for several years, he returned to Corpus Christi where he worked at Ramada Inn on Shoreline Drive. Mike was a bicycle enthusiast who loved riding along Shoreline. He loved conversations, and he excelled at telling humorous stories with a twinkle in his eye while flashing his big smile. Mike was a talented writer, and he may be remembered for his many published contributions to the Caller-Times editorial pages over the years.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Carol

He is survived by Carol's daughters: Derba and Gayle Shaver and extended families. Mike is survived by his sister, Maggie

Reasor of San Antonio and her daughters: Michelle and Suzanne Reasor and extended families.
A private memorial service for Mike was held at sunrise in San Antonio on August 17th. Thank you to Harbor Hospice for excellent care given him in his final days. Contributions may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
