Milton Eugene Van Metre, age 88, passed away in a local nursing home on July 25, 2022 after a short illness. Milton was born in Pensacola, Florida on February 6, 1934 to Frank M. and Martha J. Van Metre.

He moved to Corpus Christi with his family in 1947 and, following his graduation from W.B. Ray High School, he joined the National Guard of Texas and U.S. Army Reserve, serving until June of 1954. Immediately after, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving for four years until June of 1958. In 1966, he began employment at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi and worked there until his retirement in 1990. Milton was a baptized Christian and a lifelong member of God's Church.

Milton is predeceased by his wife, Virginia Dunn Van Metre, his parents, two sisters, Ariana Trower and Mable McCluskey, two sons, Frank A. Van Metre and Glenn L. Van Metre.

He is survived by his son John M. Van Metre of Ingleside, Texas and his daughter Joan M. Kantosky, of Round Rock, Texas, two stepdaughters, Bobbie J. Baroni of Ocala, Florida and Sandra E. Richardson of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Brighton Park Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2022 .
Inurnment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022 .
