Miltan Avila, 89, formerly of the Republic of Panama was called home by her Creator on October 3, 2025 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She became a citizen of the United States in 1981. She was elated of this accomplishment because now she was able to vote. A very important issue for her because she has been very active in the Right to Choice issues. She was a very active member of the Texas Women Political Caucus.
She was born, raised and attended schools and university in the Republic of Panama. She obtained her Post-graduated degree in Clinical Psychology from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas in 1974. She was a Registered Nurse in the Republic of Panama, Puerto Rico and Texas. She brought pediatric nursing experience obtained working in the Hospital del Nino, Republic of Panama, when she worked in Driscoll's Children Hospital, Corpus Christi (1971-1972). Her nursing experience in emergency room, delivery room, and operating room as well as other areas of nursing were an extraordinary supplement to the nursing emergency department at Ben Taub Hospital, Houston, TX (1982-1984). She was a very important asset for the professional team of the MHMR Outreach Team(1974-1982). She was the first bilingual Master's level psychologist assigned full time to the Outreach program in Robstown, TX. She was the coordinator for this full time team. It was very important issues for the fulfillment of the stipulations of the grant from the National Institute of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. She was also a licensed Bachelor Social Worker and Certified Case Manager. The experience gained in these professional areas served in her performance as the Program Director of the Long Term Care Program of the Texas Department of Human Services. She supervised Registered Nurses, Master Level Psychologist, and Social Workers.
She is the mother of Mozarit E. Martiz Avila (Norma), Miltan Martiz Avila White (Michael), Maria de los Angeles Martiz Avila Silgero (Manuel) and Pedro A. Martiz Avila, Alejandro Martiz Avila (deceased). She is the grand-mother of Monzeratt E. and Miram A. Silgero, Chelsea A. Henson-Martiz, Maitri A. and Bodhi M. White and the great-grand-mother of Kialeigh Oteyza, Kieran E. Silgero-Nittler, Marlya E. Stanley and Gideon Sky Silgero.
She faced many adverse challenges but also obtained many accomplishments, but the most valuable HER CHILDREN. They were the motor and inspiration of her life. "Vida nada te debo vida estamos en Paz" As per Miltan's request, no funeral or memorial services will be held.
