Obituary

Miguel Angel Puente, 62, passed away on October 20, 2023.

He was born in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico to his parents Candelario and Petra Puente on November 19, 1960.

A beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend is now at rest.

Miguel received his formal education at Paint Rock High School, graduating as the Valedictorian in the Class of 1979. Shortly thereafter he would begin his 16 year law enforcement career, serving first with the Midland Police Department for 8 years and the remainder with the Midland County Sheriffs Department, as a reservist. This career widely influenced the young Miguel, creating the strong and honest family man that we knew and loved. Following his departure from the police force, he held numerous positions within the realm of Communication Sales and Consulting, a profession which he truly enjoyed.

On August 1, 1981, Ms. Amelia Valdez and Mr. Miguel Puente would enter into the sacrament of marriage, bringing to life 42 years of joy and love. This blessed union created the beautiful legacy of three children and four grandchildren. To state that Miguel treasured his family is an understatement. Every moment he shared with them he saw an opportunity to instill a word of wisdom, share a message of advice or simply provide a warm and reassuring embrace.

A perfect day for Miguel would be to have his family gathered around, enjoying the simplicity of life; with the Houston Texans or the Houston Astros playing on the tv in the background. He loved to barbeque and host his Sunday family meal. When he had the opportunity to sneak away from work, he could be found in a deer blind in a small South Texas town, scoping out his next prize.

This legacy of strength will live on for generations to come. Until we meet again.

He is joined now in heaven by his mother Petra Regalado Puente, siblings: Candelario Puente, Jr., Homero Puente, and Nora Puente.

Miguel leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years Amelia Puente; children: Gabriel (Kera) Puente, Steven V. Puente, Bianca (Aaron) Gutierrez; grandchildren: Justin Bartman-Gerdes, Lilliana Puente, Nathan Puente, and Selene Gutierrez; siblings: Emilio (Celia) Puente, Pauline (Luis) Ruiz, and David Puente; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved.
