Mrs. Michelle Denise Sheffield

"Mikki"

August 30, 1956 – December 30, 2023

On August 30, 1956, a beautiful baby girl was born to Irene Jeanetta Bonham and Charles Mukes in Houston, Texas. She was given the precious name of Michelle Denise James, who was affectionately known as "Mikki" was the third born of seven siblings.  At an early age, she made the best decision of her life when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Michelle attended the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School in 1974.  She was an exceptional track star throughout her life, which yielded her a full scholarship to Prairie View A&M University.

She was a very hard worker who had an excellent work ethic which afforded her the ability to have long-standing careers with both H-E-B Corporation and Stripes.  She retired from Stripes/Sonoco in 2015 as a Regional Auditor.

Michelle married her soulmate Edward Don Sheffield on March 14, 1988. They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas where they built an amazing life together and raised three beautiful children.  She was a vivacious lady who was well respected, enjoyed life and lived every day as if it were her last. Although she could sometimes be rough around the edges (her sons can attest to that), there was never a question regarding her love, as she was a phenomenal provider and protector. The care and concern that she had for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends is unmatched.

Michelle cherished spending quality time with those she loved and was always the life of the party. She was extremely giving and helped anyone in need – her bark was often bigger than her bite, she had a heart of gold and would help those in need – she would give others the shirt off her back.

She leaves to mourn and celebrate her life: two sons, Rodrick James (Tiffany) and Ronnie James, and daughter Pamela Sheffield Hinkson (Flex); eight grandchildren, Ronnie James Jr., Kurtis James, Deandrey Chambers, Brayden Brookins, Anne Michelle James, David Greer, Justin Greer and Brandon Greer; six siblings, Florence James Brown (Edward), Cheryl Bonham, Youthel Starr (Laquita), Deidre Starr Johnson (Michael), Sheila Starr (Robert), Michelle Hubbard (Ronald); goddaughter Lilian Beasley and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her husband: Edward Don Sheffield, Mother: Irene Jeanetta Bonham, Father: Charles Mukes, her paternal and maternal grandparents, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and best friends Rosemary Ellis, Cleola Murphy, and Ann Miller.
