It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Michelle Nesmith Luera . She battled breast cancer with grace, strength, and unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She entered her heavenly home on September 21, 2023 at the age of 53.

Michelle was born the fourth of five children to Johnny V. Nesmith and Maria A. Nesmith in Los Angeles, California on April 24, 1970.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many is now a rest. As we call to mind her beautiful spirit, we remember the unending love she had for her family, all of the selfless ways she served those around her. Even in the midst of adversity she displayed unwavering strength and courage. She dedicated over 20 years of service to her job at Unqiue H.R. Employment Services in Corpus Christi, Texas. We must note the love she had for the Houston Astros! They were her team through and through and she wasn't afraid to let you know it. As mentioned above, Michelle was rooted in her faith; she found great joy teaching CCD Classes for many years at St. Pius X Catholic Church. This legacy of love, that brought light to so many, will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Until we meet again.

She is joined now in heaven by her father Johnny V. Nesmith, brother Jesse Nesmith, and father-in-law Santos G. Canales.

Michelle is survived by her husband of 22 years Jose Luera, mother: Maria A. Nesmith; children: Joey (Jennifer) Luera, Adriana Luera; 5 grandchildren; siblings: Christine (Willie) Montez, Frank (Sylvia) Nesmith, Virginia Ross; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Public Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Guardian FH; funeral procession will depart at 11:00 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5620 Gollihar Rd., with the Burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd.

Reception to follow at Guardian Hall, 5813 Ayres St.
