Michael Ramie Ortiz was called home on February 1, 2024 at the age of 62.

He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 23, 1961 to his parents Lucas and Anneliesse Ortiz.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many is now at rest.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Most would describe him as bold, outspoken and in short, a mountain of a man, with a heart of gold. The saying stands true, He never met a stranger; he made friends with many and could spend hours talking with these friends.

Our hearts are heavy as we bid farewell to such a wonderful man, but his legacy of strength, courage and wisdom are embedded in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

He is joined now in heaven by his parents Lucas Salazar Ortiz and Anneliesse Kulder Ortiz.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, spouse Norma A. Escochea; seven children, three grandchildren and one sister Angie (Pedro) Sanchez along with a host of extended members of the family and countless friends whom he loved.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Rd. , where Full Military Honors will be rendered along with the Catholic Rite of Committal officiated by Deacon Ron Martinez.
