Micaela Renae Cruz, 18, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017. Her loving family and friends were by her side as she was called home to the Lord. She was born on May 11, 1998 in Corpus Christi, TX to Jesse and Nanette Cruz. Micaela began a hard journey in middle school battling unknown medical conditions, yet she pushed on to graduate with her 2016 class at W. B. Ray High School on time even after missing class for numerous surgeries and hospital visits. In the summer of 2016 she was diagnosed with cancer. She fought by undergoing experimental chemo that ultimately had no impact. She continued to fight well after her prognosis of Christmas allowing her to meet her nephew and spend valuable time with her family.
She is survived by her parents, one sister (Elizabeth), two brothers (Michael and Jesse Jr.), a nephew (Noah), as well as her Grandparents, many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins who will miss her dearly. Services will begin on Sunday, May 7th with a family visitation at 2:00pm, public visitation at 4:00pm, followed by a Holy Rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, May 8th at 10:00am with a procession to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5830 Williams Drive at 12:30pm. Mass will follow at 1:00pm prior to laying her to rest at Rose Hill. She is loved by many and will be missed forever.
