IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mercedez Ray
Hobson
September 5, 1991 – June 20, 2022
On Monday, June 20, 2022, Mercedez Ray Hobson, loving daughter and sister, passed away after a brave and difficult battle with cancer, at the young age of 30.
Mercedez, or as she was affectionately known, Mercy, was born on September 5, 1991– in Corpus Christi, TX, to Leslie and Agnes Hobson. As the eldest sister, she played the mother-figure and best friend role to her loving siblings Delores and Anthony. In high school, Mercy was a devoted member of the award-winning SeaHawks, which gained national recognition. She went on to receive her nursing degree from the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in August of 2019 and was a hero to many throughout the pandemic. Her legacy will live on through the lives she saved and the people she reached.
Mercy had the rare ability to find joy in the little things in life. She was an avid reader with an incredible book recommendation list—loving to escape into other worlds. Mercy's spirit was always high when she was two-stepping, which she loved to do out with her friends or even in the comfort of her home with her family. The traveling that Mercy did, especially to Missouri, Virginia, South Carolina, and various places throughout Texas, remained some of her dearest memories. She also held moments of watching YouTube videos of the latest beauty products with her sister dear to her and had quite the collection of makeup and skincare essentials. Mercy was known for her immense empathy, infectious laughter, and easy-going and compassionate spirit.
Mercedez Ray Hobson is survived by her father, Leslie, her mother, Agnes, her sister, Delores, her brother, Anthony, Anthony's wife Marina, and their two kids, Luke and Lyla. The final day to celebrate Mercy's life will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 5 pm at God's Glory Baptist Church—1122 Baywood Lane. Mercy requested a luau-themed service, so please wear something bright.
