Melva Nora Perales Ramirez 91 years old, died Saturday evening at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas surrounded by her family. "Grandma" as she was known by many, loved being surrounded by people. She loved to dance, laugh, and celebrate every occasion. Melva was "Grandma" to everyone who knew her, as she welcomed friends from all walks of life into her home where she'd make sure they were warm and their tummies were full. Melva spent 72 years of her life with her late husband Andres (Chino) Ramirez traveling the country, enjoying what life had to offer.
Melva Nora was born on December 2, 1922 in Baird, Texas and is survived by her children Maria (Maggie) Ramirez-Rodriguez (Angel Rodriguez), Gilbert Andres Ramirez (Cristina Ramirez), Rebecca Rae Ramirez-Torres,(Tony Torres), Son-in-law Noel R. Galvan, Jonathan Torres (Tina Torres), Kristen Torres, Justin Torres, and her brother Alonso M. Perales Ph. D. (San Antonio, Texas)
She is met in heaven by her husband Andres (Chino) Ramirez (January 15, 1922-August 14, 2014), her eldest daughter Irma Yolanda Ramirez-Galvan (September 6, 1945-July 6, 2014) and her son, Ramiro (Goofy) P. Ramirez (March 4, 1948-August 17, 1996), her parents Emilio Sandoval Perales, Rosa L. Marroquin-Perales, and her siblings Susanna P. Perales, Nicolas M. Perales, and Viola P. Garza.
Melva is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren as well as numerous family friends who called her "Grandma".
Melva worked for many years with the Corpus Christi Army Depot and dedicated her time as an active member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, standing by her husband and sons as they defended our country through World War II and Vietnam.
The Rosary will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Guardian Funeral Home,5922 Crosstown Access Rd. Corpus Christi, Texas 78417 at 7:00pm (visitation 4:00-7:00pm)
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St. Corpus Christi, Texas, 78416 at 10:00am
Burial will follow the mass with a procession to Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery at 2731 Comanche, Corpus Christi, Texas 78408
