It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Melton Orlando Dean, who left this world on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the age of 88.

Melton was born in New Braunfels, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force. After his service, he became a skilled clock repairman and later opened his own fine jewelry store. He then owned and operated Dean Aviation airport, where he shared his passion for flying by teaching many students in 3 0 Juliet, his Cessna 150. For many years, he grew beautiful bluebonnets at the airport for his wife Ellen.

Melton was remarkably self-reliant and could figure out how to fix or do just about anything by himself. He lived a full life with quiet strength and a hardworking spirit. In his later years, he worked at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, where he retired in 2012.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Martha Ellen Dean; His son, Gary D. Dean; and his wife Sara Dean; His daughter, Michele L. Kunicki, and husband, Robert Kunicki; His grandchildren, Jeff Dean, Eric Dean and Cody Dean Kunicki; And his siblings, Elaine Felder and David Dean.

A graveside remembrance will be held at Comal Cemetery in New Braunfels on July 11 at 10 a.m. where his ashes will be laid to rest with his parents, Wesley and Melany Dean.
