Mei Yu Tseng Mayo passed away on June 28, 2019. She was 68 years old.
Mei was born on February 7, 1951 in Taiwan.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
Coming from a family of 12 children, Mei lead her life with a serious mind. Although small in stature, she was a force to be reckoned with. She entered the restaurant business in the early 1980's. Her professional demeanor would allow her to successfully run the heart of many restaurants as head of the kitchen. She carried this passion for food into her own home, creating many wonderful dishes. To her children the most notable had to be her take on traditionally mexican entrees like tripas and menudo or her king ranch chicken casserole. To her husband, he believes she should be given an award for her chicken fried steak, the smell would warm the house for days to follow!
We must mention her infamous title as "Queen of Pies" as her son said, from pecan pie to cheesecake; not many could match her level of expertise. Not only could she cook but she also had a green-thumb many were envious of. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, growing her own vegetables and spices to use in the kitchen.
When she wasn't tending to her plants, cutting the yard to her perfect standard, or manicuring her flowerbeds; she was out at the mall enjoying herself shopping. One thing that could bring a smile to her face was the risk she took when she gambled, her eyes would light up as the slot machine hit the jackpot! Although her physical presence is no longer with us, the strength she embodied and the wonderful memories which she blessed us with will live on forever. She will be greatly missed.
Mei leaves behind, to cherish these memories; her husband Jack Lee Mayo; children: Linda Tseng-Myers (Mika), Clyde Brunson, Joyce Brunson, Patricia Hernandez Brunson (Ruben), Carolyn Brunson-Hughes; 22 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous other members of family and friends whom she adored.
A memorial service will be held on Friday July 5, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home.
