Matias Ortiz, born January 24, 1959 was called by our heavenly Father on June 5, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eusebio Z. and Juanita V. Ortiz.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia; son, Daniel Hernandez (Gina) and daughter, Angela Marie Ortiz; his grandchildren: Daniel, Armand, Joshua, Alexandria and Michael; brothers: Eusebio, III (Mary), Juan Ortiz, and Ricardo Ortiz; sisters: Yolanda Wright, Irma Ortiz-Gaona (Rudy), Maria Ortiz, Alma Arredondo (Alonso), and many nieces and nephews.

Matt's many construction jobs took him to various states and accorded him many wonderful experiences. Matt would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and much more. He lived a humble life, always thinking of others before himself, ready to help anyone in need. He had a generous and caring heart. He loved fishing, Tejano music, and his constant companion (dog Scruffy).

Visitation, Memorial Service and Celebration of Matt's life will be held at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown (Saratoga & Holly) at 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., (service at 7:00p.m.) on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
