Obituary

2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Mary Alice Munoz, 68, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her Lord Jesus Christ, family and friends on January 31st, 2015. She was born on January 9th, 1947 in Corpus Christi, TX. Her love for Christ brought special meaning and joy to her life. She always had time to listen, to lend a sympathetic ear, and her advice was given with love and in hope that all would go well. She made her loved ones feel special and always saw the best in people. She was extremely generous, putting other people first even if it meant that she had to do without. Mary Alice graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1965. She was also an active member of the Hi-Fairneessee Girl's club. She went on to attend Del Mar College and retired from Spohn Memorial Medical Center as a Medical Laboratory Technician
after 46 years of dedicated service. There she met and made many lifelong friends. Her love to travel took her to Rome, Germany, Holland and numerous state and national parks. Her love of nature was unsurpassed. Her most recent whale-watching trip to Alaska could not be missed. Yet she would always return home to enjoy quality time with her family, friends and neighbors. Mary Alice will be missed by her loving husband of 27 years, Frank (Paco) Muñoz, her children, Nancy (Steve) Hinojosa-Scott and her son Nick (Michelle) Hinojosa. "NaNa" was frequently heard whenever her grandchildren were around, who include Alexandria Fernandez, Joshua Hinojosa and Ashley Hinojosa. Mary Alice is also survived by her siblings Maria Lara Garcia, Pete (Grace) Isaac Martinez, Frances V. (John) Benavidez, Gracie (Richard) Solano and Belinda Edwards, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, wonderful friends and the "love of her life", her beloved pet, Wilson the 2nd. Though Mary Alice may not physically be here with us, her beautiful spirit will always be among us; within our hearts, within our minds and within our souls. She was loved and always will be, she will never be forgotten. Visitation will begin at 6pm on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown, 78417. A rosary and a celebration of Mary Alice 's life will begin at 7pm that evening. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, February 21st, 2015 at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 6102 Greenwood Drive, 78417. A fellowship meal will follow immediately in the Our Savior Fellowship Hall. "Death leaves a heartache, no one can heal; Love leaves treasured memories, that no one can steal."
