Mary Diane
Herrera
August 15, 1951 – January 18, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary "Diane" Montes Herrera announces her passing in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 73 years old. After battling health complications, Diane fell ill and was hospitalized at the Spohn Shoreline Hospital where she was called home to be with the Lord and her beloved late husband, sister and parents in Heaven on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Diane was born and raised in Corpus Christi and was the oldest of two girls. She attended Wynn Seal Junior High, where she was a cheerleader. She also attended W. B. Ray High School and Del Mar College before starting a career with the Corpus Christi Caller Times, where she worked full time for 22 years while raising her two sons. Additionally, she worked in the office of the Corpus Christi Heart Clinic and also served as a home health care provider where she extended a helping hand to others in need of assistance in their daily lives before eventually retiring. In her recent, retired years, she was able to care for her beloved mother during her final years as well as being a supportive companion to her wonderful late husband, Arthur Herrera, with whom she celebrated a 30-year anniversary in 2024. She enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, alongside Arthur, as well as the Texas Longhorns and Baylor Bears, who they were partial to as proud grandparents. She was extremely proud of all three of her grandchildren who were each blessed with many beautiful memories of their dear grandmother who was full of life and full of light and love. Grandma Diane loved dressing up, going dancing and celebrating life, attending sporting events and traveling to visit family. She was also a very loving and caring mother, mother-in-law, niece, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor who touched the lives of many loved ones.
Diane will be sorely missed by her two sons and daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, and many family and friends who also loved her dearly. She leaves behind her son, Joe Jr. (Cheryl) Guzman of Round Rock, TX, grandson, Jayden Guzman of Austin, TX, and her son, Jason (Sandra) Guzman of Corpus Christi, TX, along with granddaughters, Taylor and Sydney Guzman of Houston and Waco, TX, respectively. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Arthur Herrera, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rosalio and Hortencia (Mondragon) Montes, and her sister, Sylvia (Montes) Garza.
A memorial service with a rosary will be held at the Guardian Funeral Home located at 5922 Crosstown Access Rd. Corpus Christi, Tx 78417 on Friday, February 7th 2025, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
The family would like to thank all who have extended their thoughts and prayers in this difficult time and hope you will all keep her beautiful memory alive as they will forever cherish her bright smile, warm laughter and loving heart.
