Mary Edna Castaneda, 65, passed away on February 17, 2017. She was born in Laredo, Texas on April 30, 1951 to Beatrice and Domingo Castaneda. She was raised in Corpus Christi, TX, and graduated from Tuloso Midway High School in 1969. Mary worked at Citiesof.com and was blessed with having two very loving and caring bosses, John and Jaqueline Daugherty.
She will forever be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of laughter, and especially, her devotion to her family. She was never without her makeup and her "eyelashes" were a must! Mary had a warm and welcoming personality, and everyone she met quickly became her friend. She was kind and selfless, always putting others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Castaneda; sister, Yvonne Bonnie Castaneda; and sister-in-law, Anabel Castaneda. She is survived by her father, Domingo Castaneda; daughter Zanetta Ruiz (Roland Villarreal); son, Jeremiah Ruiz; brothers, Bobby Castaneda (Alma), Roland Castaneda (Esther), Randy Castaneda, and Roy Castaneda; sister, Janie Castaneda (Scott Beck); grandchildren, Roland Villarreal (Brianna Williams), Noah Villarreal, and Sayer Villarreal; great-grandchildren, Acacia Villarreal, Dean Williams, and Rayne Avery Villarreal.
The family would like to express their most heartfelt thanks to her second family at Windsor Calallen Nursing Home. The love and care you all provided to her will always be remembered.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Guardian Funeral Home in Chapel B from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
