IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin Allen
Monse
August 10, 1942 – June 17, 2025
Marvin Allen Monse, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 82.
Born on August 10, 1942, in Orange Grove, Texas, Marvin was a lifelong resident of Banquete-a true Bulldog through and through. He began his career by serving in the United States Army, where he proudly held the rank of SP4 and received the Good Conduct Medal for his dedicated service. After completing his two years in the military, Marvin went on to work at the ASARCO Refinery and later retired from the City of Corpus Christi Water Department after many years of loyal service.
Marvin's greatest pride and joy was his family. He poured his heart into his role as a husband, dad, Pawpaw, and great-grandfather. His grandchildren learned some of life's most valuable-and unforgettable-lessons from him: how to take the back roads because they were the "shortcut," never pay full price, and always carry cash. He taught them how to drive a stick shift well before they had a license, to order "diet water," and to answer "right or left" when asked what sides they wanted with a meal. Above all, he instilled the importance of always having a good one-liner ready-appropriate or not.
Scott, his son, was his daily breakfast partner, and Marvin never failed to bring laughter to the table-especially when ordering tacos: "one potato with egg, one egg with potato-and make sure it's chicken eggs, not buzzard eggs this time."
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Ben and Mary Monse, his six siblings, and most recently his great-grandson, Raiden Louis Monse, whom we are sure he is now holding and playing with in Heaven.
He is survived by Brenda, his devoted wife of 59 years; his children, Scott Monse (Rose) of Corpus Christi, TX, and Kim Kahla (Ronnie) of Lake City, TX; four grandchildren, Dustin Monse (Megan), Kody Kahla (Alyssa), Amber Guerrero (Jacob), and Lane Kahla (Amanda); and eight treasured great-grandchildren.
His last moments were spent surrounded by the love and laughter of his family, just as he lived every day of his life-with heart, humor, and unwavering love.
Services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 9:30 AM with a Rosary and Mass at Saint Francis of Rome Catholic Church, 410 Simmons Ave., Agua Dulce, TX. Interment with honors will follow at 2:00 PM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX.
