IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha Macha
Ellington
October 9, 1932 – December 8, 2020
Our remarkable, smart, funny, and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife Martha was born on October 9, 1932, in Baylor County, Texas, and passed peacefully in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 8, 2020. She was the oldest of three children born to Jerome George Macha and Amelia (Millie) Baca Macha. She left for college at the University of Texas at Austin when she was 16, where she met the one true love of her life, Owen Hammack Ellington. She married at 19 and had five children. Martha returned to school and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso. She taught elementary and middle school children in El Paso for over twenty years before she retired. Martha's husband passed in 1997, and in 2015 she moved to Corpus Christi to be near family.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Millie Macha and her beloved husband Owen.
She is survived by her five children Debby (Mark) Judge of Houston, Janice Ellington (Daniel Donnelly) of Corpus Christi, Peggy (Dyron) Dinsmore, of Atlanta, GA, Owen Jr. "Wymbo" (Linda) Ellington of Houston, and Byron (Annette) Ellington of Austin, seven grandchildren, Jocelyn Judge, Julianna Judge, Kelsea Dinsmore, Chandler (Kaela) Dinsmore, Summer Ellington, Susan (Matt) Cannata, Byron Lopez Ellington, two great-grandchildren Ava Grace and Preston James Dinsmore, her sister Helen Macha Black, her brother Jerome "Jerry" Macha, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in El Paso, Texas at a later date, when her ashes will be buried next to her beloved husband.
Cards and remembrances may be sent to PO Box 2285, Corpus Christi, TX. 78403.
In lieu of flowers, Martha had a special affinity for the Salvation Army of El Paso, 4300 Paisano Dr, El Paso, TX, 77905 because of their commitment to help the children she taught from disadvantaged families, or a donation to any charity of choice.
