Obituary

Mark E. Grunberg passed away in Corpus Christi, TX on February 24, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Rose, just short of celebrating 53 years of marriage on March 29, 2022. He is also survived by his daughter, Sherri (Gary) Barnes, and son, Brian (Emily) Grunberg. Mark has five beautiful granddaughters, Nicole, Kelli, Casy (Jon), Riley and Addyson and two loving grandsons, Reed and Chad. Also survived by his sisters, Kristi (Rick) Reid, Diane (Gary)Stanley and several nieces and nephews.

Mark was born on March 21, 1949, in Council Bluffs, IA to Ervin "Bud" and MaryJean Grunberg. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and later enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country completing two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Seabee from 1967 to 1971.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy he began working for Northwestern Bell in Omaha, NE. His career with the phone company took his family from Omaha to Council Bluffs, IA and later to Corpus Christi, TX in 1981. After 29 years with the phone company he retired at which time he and Rose moved back to Council Bluffs, IA. He began Mark's Home Improvement and remained self employed for the next ten years. Over the last several years he and his wife have spent their summers in Nevis,MN and their winters in Corpus Christi, TX. Mark wore many hats as a loving son, brother, husband, dad, uncle, grandpa and good friend. He loved his Nebraska Cornhuskers, fishing, golf, and being surrounded by his family and friends. He would greet you with a smile and he became a friend to everyone he'd meet.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date and will be shared with family and friends in a future announcement.
