With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Mario Garza, age 79, on October 9, 2026.

Born on January 31, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, Mario grew up surrounded by the love of his parents, Abel Garza Sr. and Eutimia, and his siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Garza, Abel Garza Jr., and his sister Sylvia Ramirez.

Mario leaves behind his cherished sisters Guadalupe (Edward), Anita (Frank), Rosie, and Oralia, who will forever hold his memory close.

Mario was known for his joyful spirit and the simple, genuine way he brightened the lives of those around him. He loved reading maps and could spend hours exploring places on paper. He worked cooking in the Post Office cafeteria, where his kindness and humor made him a favorite among coworkers. Mario enjoyed all types of music and carried a happiness that was easy to feel—he loved making people laugh, and his gentle humor became part of his legacy.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Alameda Oaks Nursing Center for the compassionate care they provided for Mario.

Mario’s laughter, warmth, and light-hearted nature will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 2:30 P.M.
