Maria Luisa (Suarez) Samudio, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed peacefully August 18, 2021, at age 88.
Maria, born on January 30, 1933 to Margil Suarez and Genoveva Gonzales, grew up in San Antonio, where she met her husband of 67 years, Frank Samudio, Sr. Childhood sweethearts, they married on August 14, 1954 and began their long love affair and journey in life together. A Navy wife, Maria moved from both sides of the US with her husband four times while having five children. Maria was devoted to her husband, Frank, and family and worked continuously to help support them throughout the many changes in duty stations. In 1970, the family moved to their final duty station in Corpus Christi, eventually retiring and settling in the Flour Bluff area.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Margil Suarez Jr., and infant daughter, Margarita. She is survived by her husband, Frank Sr., two sons, Frank Jr. and Fred (Joye), two daughters, Diana (Jeffrey) Gregerson and Dora Barnard, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and niece, Mary Jessie Hernandez.
Maria's family was her greatest joy. Her beautiful smile, quick wit, and joyful laughter will be missed by all those who knew, loved, and were inspired by her.
There will be a visitation held at Guardian Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 25th from 5pm – 7pm with a rosary to be recited at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, the Samudio Family asks that a contribution or memorial is made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org .
